ok played around some more. i think i found the cause of the problem.

i have most of my playlists under
"all users\my music\my playlists"

media player sometimes save a playlist under "me\my music\my
playlists"

to make slimserver scan that folder i put a shortcut in "all users\my
music\my playlists" to point to "me\my music\my playlists". i also put
a shortcut back to "all users\my music\my playlists" in "me\my music\my
playlists" (for me to easily switch between the two). i think this
creates an infinite recursion in the program code eating up memory.

this was not problem before 6.5.1

i confirmed this by removing all playlists in both folders but leaving
the shortcut. rescanned playlists only. the scanner still ran eating
up memory but eating memory a lot slower.

when i removed the "return" shortcut it stopped quickly as it should
given that there are no playlists to scan.

finally confirmed it by putting back my playlists (but still without
the return shortcut). scanner now quickly scans.
