Download the following which is the MplayerOSX - AFAIK it is universal http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/MPlayerOSX_1.0rc1.dmg
I'm not sure about the next step - whether you examine the DMG or install it so you can follow Danco's advice to get the right mplayer executable.
