Let me start by saying that I'm 100% open to anyone suggesting fixes for this, including a total reimplementation if needed. I think it's a stretch to call the progress bar meaningless, but it's so far from perfect I've toyed with removing it altogether.
The gory technical details of the progress bar-- Progress bar increments using javascript, but periodically (every 10 seconds) slimserver is queried in the background, data are returned, and the progress bar is adjusted accordingly. Javascript cannot be counted on to keep good time, so I have to make these periodic adjustments to reflect reality. I'm not claiming it's pretty. The progress bar doesn't fill completely because your screen is wider in pixels than a 770. If you set your browser to 800 pixels in width you will see it fill completely. That's no solution though...I'm considering this a bug, and will look for a solution. The behavior you are seeing when pausing for a time (as you described it, 20 minutes into a 3 minute song) is new to me, and I just checked my own installation and it does not behave that way. Not sure what's going on there. I'm going to spend some time in the coming weeks re-examining the progress bar (again, suggestions and pathes welcome). Changes will be made for Slimserver 7.0. One last comment-- if you're not on a Nokia 770 or 800, use Touch instead of Nokia770 skin. The two skins are exactly the same, except Touch will render a bit nicer on different resolution screens. cheers, #!/ben -- bklaas "the Nokia770 skin guy" http://www.last.fm/user/bklaas/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bklaas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32959 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
