That's pretty much the same thing I saw. There's an initial phase of a scan where SlimServer just gathers up a list of all the audio files on the server (in SlimServer 7.0 it uses a count of these files to create a progress bar during the 'real' scanning work of reading tags and finding byte offsets). That phase was taking over 8 minutes just to gather the file list for 12,000 files, during which there was very little disk activity on the Infrant NAS. When the real scanning began, disk activity increased considerably. On the same Windows server with the files on an internal drive, the initial phase takes maybe 20 seconds. -- JJZolx Jim ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33041 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
