Well I went into power management and changed the setting to never
sleep. Started slimserver and waited till I could connect to it with
the browser, hit the on button and .. nothing. After pressing the on
button for 90 sec or so the SB connected.

Is there away in windows to control individual processes and stop them
going to sleep?

I recall that UNIX processes that idled too long could get swapped out
to save memory but that was in the 80s.
