I would strongly recommend that you consider Plone. It's one of the most powerful, easy-to-use, scalable and secure open source CMSes out there. And it's named after a band! :-)

It's got a strong, friendly developer community and really good documentation (for an open source project!). You can make it go really fast with a little caching, and has all the features that a big-time website would need.
