I am very intrigued by this comment, not least because you mention the
Sale of Goods Act so you are presumably based in the same jurisdiction
as me (the UK).  I would be very interested to know the term that your
supplier relies on (on a no-names basis if necessary) as invalidating
your warranty if you move to a software upgrade supplied by the actual
manager of the device (as opposed to one from a third party which is in
effect a hack).  Presumably it is in your terms and conditions of sale
for your Transporter?  It's difficult to say for certain, but I think
you would have far more luck raising UCTA than the Sale of Goods Act if
the suggestion is seriously that using 6.5.2 invalidates your warranty
with them.
