I don't know about your 700AP. But it appears it may have some router capabilities. You don't want that for a second access point.
I use a router as a second access point. The trick is to turn off DHCP, and then to connect NOTHING to the WAN port. You connect an ether cable from one of the lan ports on the router to one of the lan ports on the WAP. It then operates as a switch, and at the IP level its completely invisible. Of course, you need to configure its Wireless.
