This is not a terribly complex issue to grasp. Frankly there is no
technical reason that either can't work perfectly for you. Where people
have problems is either due to their specific situation (a poor phone or
cable line to their residence) or a local provider who doesn't do a very
good job.

I have fantastic service from AT&T DSL here in St. Louis and the local
cable internet company I had before that was (and still is according to
the local newspaper and Better Business Bureau) terrible. But that tells
you nothing about your situation. It could easily be the opposite.  If
you followed my experience you'd be making the wrong choice in that
case.

Go to www.dslreports.com and you can see that every company has both
positive and negative situations, but often you can spot a pattern for
your community. Their web site allows you to narrow the search by State
and includes both DSL and cable providers.
