kdf, thank you for a detailed suggestion. I don't know how I could have duplicates with the same url either, very strange. I did all of your suggestions previously, but with the same results. My bug txt didn't show anything abnormal, just "Setup::rescan - initiating scan of type: [wipecache]"
I had not tried your suggestion choose a small folder as my music library, one artist folder as and example. I tried that, and no duplicates! I will attempt to rescan my entire library again. I think the problem is that the scan somehow reloops the directory after the initial scan. I will start a new thread if I continue to experience this problem.
