The applications I am having problems with are pretty mainsteam - Norton
Ghost, Partition Magic, Powerdesk6, Peerguardian, Comodo Firewall along
with quite a few smaller specialist applications (video, audio
conversion, weather station, [EMAIL PROTECTED], etc). I want Vista but given the
number of XP legacy apps I have that bring up error codes there is no
gain for me. Vista Ultimate will sit on a shelf for another 18 months
until it is sorted. I want a new OS that will improve my productivity
rather than divert me down some blind alley when I use a long forgotten
application.

So back to the original statement - XP is not broken, so why try and
fix it with Vista? Where are the gains?
