OK, so I managed to stream audio from my server to my land in Second Life, using the http://hostname:9000/stream.mp3 approach. However there is a big problem, which I should have thought of: everyone comes up as their own player, and of course you can't sync those players, so basically everyone gets their own show. And yes, no doubt I will run out of bandwidth quickly.
So what I need to do is rent a stream relay server facility (NOT run a streaming server myself!). It needs to pick up the URL of my slimserver and make it available. Ideally it needs to be a stream relay rental scheme where I only pay for it when I use it, which will not be all the time ... but I could handle a full-time server facility if that's all there is. Obviously I am not going to use a system which requires re-encoding (eg Shoutcast using the Winamp plug-in). So can anyone recommend a service that will take an mp3 source URL and rebroadcast it to listeners?
