If you type 'linear supply' into the search box and scroll through nine pages of posts, you'll see one at the bottom titled super regulator measurements by Sean Adams*, in which he says a linear supply is more likely to improve (the measured pk-pk jitter of) the digital output more so than the analog output. Whether this is audible or not is up for debate, but using a Denon surround receiver will certainly be a different story than with a silver-wired Audio Note DAC in a $100K system. I.e., OP, it's a waste of money for you, if you're not getting interference, IMHO.
I used a Power One 5-3 for a long time until the transformer started getting noisy. Then I switched back to the supplied wall wart for the last six months and haven't felt I've been missing anything. There's been a Sola silver series 5-3 on my desk for a month that I got new for 9.99 on ebay, so whatever you do don't spend a fortune. *disclaimer: circuit changes in Sb3 and SD's acquisition of better measurement equipment may not provide a fair comparison to this rather dated thread. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=15201&highlight=linear+supply -- Skunk ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Skunk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2685 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36015 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
