Hi Dale,

I've been looking at other options too.  Did you search for Hamachi
alternatives?  A quick search turned up these:

OpenVPN (http://openvpn.net/): mentioned by another poster.  It
shouldn't be too daunting, since it has several GUI options I think:

Tinc (http://www.tinc-vpn.org/examples/windows-install): doesn't have
a GUI, but pretty well documented from the look of it.

SSL-Explorer (http://3sp.com/showSslExplorerCommunity.do) - looks
pretty full-featured, and maybe overkill, but would take a bit of
investigation.  Again, plenty of GUI tools for admin.

Wippien (http://wippien.com/): looks more like Himachi, although it
also does IM.
