I think that Slimdevices is rather limited by their heavily geek
customer base.  In the wider world, simplicity is a very desirable
characteristic.

A while back, people on this forum often suggested to newcomers that
they buy a NAS box to host SS.  Over time the specific NAS box that was
in favor changed as the previous recommendation was found to be flawed.

If you put the file storage in the same place as the client, there
isn't much reason for the Slimdevices architecture.  A PC or Mac
running some music player program works just fine.
