No arguments here, however now that NAS boxes with sufficient grunt and supporting modularisation are becoming available I'm quite happy to divorce my listening from having to have one of my desktop PCs running. I think the point is either option is ok, so long as it is a dedicated, independent of my desktop PCs solution, that can for all intents and purposes run quietly and reliably 24/7/365.
