Yes.
Nearly all wall warts for all consumer electronics are switching power 
supplies.

Its the other way around. A linear power supply draws constant power to 
a transformer, and gets hot. All things that draw power get hot.
A switching power supply converts the normal 50/60 hz AC to very high 
frequency, and only draws power for a part of the frequency. They draw 
less power, and thus get less hot.

SqueezeBoxes, like many modern things are designed to be left on all the 
time. That there is no "off" switch is a hint.

It is unlikely to be bad, just remember that electronics often die when 
power comes on. So there is a theoretical increase in probability of 
problems. On the other hand, being turned off makes it less suseptable 
to spikes, brownouts, etc.
