I have re-visited this problem after recently purchasing an ipod for the car and wanted to get this Playlist issue resolved.
Firstly I checked the debug "cmd" window where remote computer mapping worked with either the mapped drive letter or the UNC path. My first problem was traced to specifying the correct UNC path for the "ITUNES MUSIC LIBRARY.XML LOCATION" which should have been set to: \\192.168.25.10\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml This was confirmed to work in the debug cmd window. To get this to work under the Windows Server 2003 Service we need to change the account that Slimserver uses to run as a service - by default the "local system" account is used. I created an additional administrator account name, e.g. "slimadmin", and associated password specifically for this service - a separate name and password is used just in case I changed my default administrator account password at a later date. I then assigned this account name and password to the Service (See "Log On" tab under Slimserver Service properties.) Stop and Start the Slimserver service. The above UNC pathname was then inserted against the "ITUNES MUSIC LIBRARY.XML LOCATION" and was accepted! [Note that the mapped drive letter still does not work - but not a problem in view of the UNC mapping solution.] I rescanned my Music Library and my iTunes playlists appear through the slimserver. :-) Thanks to VooDooD for the hint. regards, CP -- capellow ------------------------------------------------------------------------ capellow's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10776 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35240 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
