It really depends how tech savvy your friend is. There is no simple functionality to make SlimServer use different libraries. For awhile I had a his and hers library, but involved 2 SlimServers, 1 MySQL, iTunes, and Solaris. Not for the faint of heart!
Tell your friend to pick up a low end computer and install a second SlimServer on it. It makes me wonder, can SlimServer be made to dynamically re-read it's prefs file? Could you maintain a single SlimServer, but have alternate pref files? That would easily solve the problem (from a non-developer standpoint) because the library path is in there, as well as the calls to MySQL for which database to use. When I had the setup mentioned with Solaris, I ran my SlimServer in one zone (global) and my wife's in a sparse-root zone (called slim). I used a single MySQL instance running in the global zone to hold both databases, one called slimserver and the other called itunes. Worked like a charm with no cross pollution. -- 4mula1 SlimServer 6.5.4 + Solaris 10 x86: Because Linux would've been too easy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4mula1's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3439 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38402 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
