Does your Belkin router support any kind of traffic/packet shaping within your network such as QoS?
If so, and this feature is turned on, it may prioritise his gaming traffic over the Slimserver stuff. It's supposed to help with audio streaming and VOIP, but I always end up switching it off as my SBs seem particularly prone to dropouts when it is switched on.
