All, I know this is an old thread, but I revisited this issue after
giving up long ago and I found a very simple solution.  Someone wrote a
php script called ShoutPSP which basically rebuilds the URL   to the
stream.mp3 to trick the PSP in to thinking it's a huge static mp3 file.
As the name implies, it was written to listen to Shoutcast stations on
PSP.

It's only 2 files, the php script and an xml rss file.

The *catch* is you need a web server that can execute php.  

Performance has been fine, the only drawback is you have to stop the
music to go back to the remote control on the psp, and then go back
again to the rss feed to listen to the music.
