A couple of points.

1. If network traffic is between a PC app and 127.0.0.1 or the server
IP address and the App is on the same PC - it will not show up with
Ethereal. Slimserver uses AJAX a lot with Web interface and it doesn't
show.

2. If you are using task manager to see what is happening - I think it
is "blind" in some areas.  I found ProcessExplorere to be better
especially as using the mouse on the graphs can show you the process
responsible for the peak.

After starting - open the system info by clicking on the 3 small graphs
on top right.  Run GMail and Slimserver and see if any of the graphs
rise or counters increment significantly.  

If not, then it looks like there is something hanging the systems or
waiting but locking out i/o while doing so - that could be a driver
problem.
