I had a similar problem and considered a booster, repeater and the cheapest wireless access point that can be run in repeater mode. My main issue is that my house is L-shaped and the signal had to pass through 2 brick walls to get to the SB. It just wasn't good enough for playing flacs. In the end I chose a mains network solution from Netgear. OK, it's a more expensive way to do it but it gives me 4 sockets @ 85Mbs which should be plenty for the SB and any IP based PVR I may set up in the future.
