Did you have a previous version of Slim that worked ok? Are you hooked up via wi-fi?
If you think it's a software issue, I would simply uninstall slim and reinstall a fresh 7.0. Be sure to go to your user>pref folder and also delete the Squeezecenter preferance pane. I installed yesterdays nightly and it worked ok.
