I've been running SC 7.0 on Ubuntu for a couple of months now. When I first installed it, everything worked fine. Random mix worked as it did on 6.5.x, as in it initially selected 11 tracks, and kept adding tracks so you'd always have 10 future tracks ahead of your current one. I noticed also that audioscrobbling functions had been added into SC 7.0, so I used those instead of adding the plugin. This also worked as expected.
Late last week I updated to the latest SC 7.0 build, and noticed two things: 1) Random mix no longer works the same way. First, it is now located under "My Music" rather than on the main menu. No big deal. Second, it only ever has 11 songs in its list. It plays song 1, and has 10 future songs. But when it finishes song 1 and begins playing song 2, it shifts all of the songs down by 1 and adds a new one at the end, for still a total of only 11 songs. So for example, let's say it initially chose the following 11 tracks: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K After it gets done playing A and moves on to B, the new playlist looks like: B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K., L This is not a deal breaker for me, but I like it less than the old functionality. Why? On random mix I sometimes hear an obscure song from my collection and not recognize it. I am not always listening to my SB in a location where it is convenient to read the display. With the previous functionality, I could just scroll back up in the playlist to the song I did not recognize. With the way it behaves now, if I don't catch the song when it's playing, I cannot scroll back up to see what it was. This may or may not be a bug -- my main questions for this one are has anyone else observed this, is this a deliberate design change in random mix, and does anyone else like the old way better? 2) The audioscrobbling no longer works properly with random mix. It works fine if I'm not using random mix, but when I use random mix, it *sometimes* scrobbles the first song I play correctly. After that, it reports incorrect songs to last.fm as "currently playing", although it doesn't reported them as actually played, so they don't get counted as songs I've listened to. I cannot find the pattern for the songs it is reporting as "currently playing". It's not the song that is actually playing, nor is it the song which just played, and it doesn't seem to be a song that is about to be playing either. I haven't done a great deal of experimentation here yet to see if I can figure out where it's picking the songs to report. This definitely seems like a bug to me, but I wanted to find out first if anyone else had seen it, and if it possibly was a known problem. Thanks! I've been enjoying SC 7.0 -- a big improvement over 6.5.x so far, these issues notwithstanding.
