The RIAA thinks everything is illegal except itself. It sues everybody and anything to try to justify its existence. They came into my wife's business and said they were going to sue her if she did not stop playing CDs over the store's in-ceiling speaker system. They said the music was for her customers and not her personal use and that she had to get a pay service such as Muzak so the artist would be compensated! My next experience with the RIAA was them coming into my favorite watering hole and telling the owner (member of a famous 70/80s rock band) that he was no longer allowed to get up on stage and play his own songs between the sets of the bands he hired. Can you image an organization having the power to tell a person he can not sing his own songs in the club he owns! As if playing and singing his own songs was hurting anybody. If anything it might cause somebody to think, "Hey, I remember that song, think I'll go buy the CD." Besides does the RIAA think he was taking royalties out of his own pocket and they needed to protect him from himself?! The RIAA is also the group that is killing Internet Radio with the help of the CRB. Royalties when up 37.5% in 2007 over 2006. By the year 2010, it will cost almost 2 cents (0.0190) in royalties to stream one song to one listener. It is impossible to get enough ad time to pay for that as well as royalties becoming 150 to 200% of total revenue. This will end Internet Radio in the United States by 2010 if nothing it done about it. -- iPhone iPhone Last.FM http://www.lastfm.com/user/mePhone Media Room: Transporter, Vandersteen Quatro Signature, Ayre MX-R Mono Blocks, VTL TL-6.5 Signature Pre-Amp, VCC-5 Reference Center Channel, four VSM-1 Signatures, Runco 710, RAM Oppo DV970HD, VeraStarr 6.4SE Living Room: Squeezebox 3, Vandersteen Model 3A Signature, Two 2Wq subs, VCC-2, Two VSM-1, ADCOM GTP-870HD, Cinepro 3K6SE III Gold Bedroom: Squeezebox 3, Thiel 2.3, NAD C370 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ iPhone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13622 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41571 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
