The Duet Receiver has no headphone jack or geekport, and also needed different power supply voltages, so the electrical requirements for the DAC were completely different. The Wolfson is a newer DAC which better met those design requirements. Both architecturally and in terms of measurements they are quite comparable. I can not hear a difference anyway.
