I was discussing this earlier with someone else. Has Microsoft every acquired a company where the acquisition was a success? I'm SURE they had to have, but neither of us could think of any. Maybe if they had, espescially a company with a strong linux/OSS component, I'd feel a little less sick to my stomach. Generally speaking, once MS buys someone the company just suffocates.
