Do you know how to solder? This sounds a lot like broken diode leads that other users have reported: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40113 If that's it, please let us know which model remove you have, as I've only heard about the new "candy bar" remotes (volume buttons in the middle, has a Browse button) breaking like this.
