It sounds like wireless problems to me. It could be someone else near you with a cordless phone or something causing problems. I would try changing the channel on your router to one of 1, 6, or 11 and see if it gets better/worse. You should also run the network test plugin to see if you can get 2000kbps to the slimserver.
