You could be right - it depends what you want to do with it - "Horses for Courses". Mine is going to sit on top of some Kitchen cabinets out of sight, and will be left plugged in, so that the attached Squeezebox can be set up to synchronise with what's playing in the living room. In my case, paying for better build quality isn't necessary - I even considered buying a DIY kit. Of course, if your amp will be on display then the cheap plastic might offend, and some will claim that better build quality will give better sound, so it all depends on your circumstances I think.
