However, because the Controller does not have any alphanumeric keys like the standard remote, entering the text to search on is a bit of a pain. You get a screen where each letter must be selected with the scroll wheel. If you only want to enter the first letter it's OK, but for entering entire words it's not ideal.

So if you've set up SC to do searches within words, that's how it'll work. (I personally have my SC set up to search only at the beginning of words. For example, searching on "SON", it'll find "SONg of satisfaction" and "no SON of mine", but not "king crimSON".
