One factor here may be that Logitech introduced a new "synchronize" paradigm in SC7. See Alan's comment on http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=6806 Before SC7, to "sync" Player A to Player B meant to make Player A play whatever was currently on Player B. I call this the "join up with" model. Player A joins up with B (and whatever other players might already be synced with B). With SC7, that's still the case in the IR remote UI, and in the Player Settings of the Web UI. But the new Web main page and the Squeezebox Controller have a completely different paradigm that's the opposite of "join up with". The new Web UI and the Controller have a "take control of" paradigm. In the new Web main page or the SBC interface, to "sync" Player A to Player B means to make Player B play whatever is currently on Player A. Player A takes control of B, effectively discarding B's playlist, etc. I do not know why Logitech introduced the "take control of" paradigm in SC7, but I dislike[0] both 1) the "take control of" paradigm -- see my comment #5 on that bugzilla ticket 2) the fact that SC7 uses the same language in both "join up with" and "take control of" situations -Peter [0] Sheesh, I seem to be using the verb "dislike" a lot lately -- I still like the Squeeze platform a lot, it's just that SC7 has many changes and additions, not all of which I like. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ free plugins: http://www.tux.org/~peterw/#slim AllQuiet BlankSaver BottleRocket FuzzyTime SaverSwitcher SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock ------------------------------------------------------------------------ peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43177 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
