Sounds to me that the name resolution isn't working. What is doing the name resolution in your network. This would tend to be the router. But it may also be necessary to set up the default domain suffix in order to pick up the right DNS name.
To check this first try using the IP address of the server as in http://192.168.x.x:9000 replacing the 192.168.x.x with the address of your server. Assuming this works then it is purely down to your name resolution. In this case look at the network settings on one of your laptops and match them on the laptop.
