Not for day-to-day work. SqueezeCenter and many 3rd party plugins know
how to migrate preferences from the old single file to the new 
preference directory setup. Well, there is an API for accessing the old
preferences, but it should only be used by SqueezeCenter and 3rd party
code for the purpose of one-time[0] preference migration.

[0] If you delete a plugin's SC7 prefs file, chances are that it will
migrate the SS6 prefs again next time you start SC7.
