Hi, welcome.

we'll help you out

You just need what is technically called a Wireless Access Point, which
is completely compatible with Verizon DSL, I have that in my office.

For unknowable marketing reasons, if you buy a box that says "Wireless
Access Point" on it, it will cost three times as much as if the same
hardware is in a box labeled Wireless Router.

There is no difference in hardware. Just the price and manual.

But you will need a wireless network box. You probably can get a
nameless white router at your local BestBuy for $30 that will work. I've
used one with my Verizon DSL. But I have no idea what brand it is,
because its nameless.

I recommend the Linksys WG54GL "router"
The "GL" part costs a couple of bucks more than the nearly identical
Linksys WG54G "router" (see, no trailing EL).

I like the GL because its reliable hardware and you can flash it with
free, open source routing firmware that makes it amazing.

You really only need the WiFi for setup, so you could borrow one, use it
for setup and then use the wired Ethernet connection.

Also one of the folks here is working (and made available) a plugin that
allows setup without WiFi.
