1. 5-10 secs typically. Booting from off takes longer, maybe 30 secs total (haven't timed it). 2. Just use the "Select player" menu item.
Compared to the web based interfaces (n800, ipeng, sc7, etc), it's faster but you don't see as much on screen at once.
