V1.0 supported navigation by simply presenting directory contents alphabetically. It used the same up/down/left/right "spatial" model that we still use, but without scrolling animations. Pressing right on a mp3 file would play it, and then it would continue to play whatever followed it in that directory. There was no tag support, and no concept of a playlist - just navigating to some starting point in a directory structure. There was no web interface, only the UI on SLIMP3's screen, which was ridiculously fast because of how simple the song metadata was (just a filename). I don't think there were even volume controls. I'm a little foggy on the 2.0 and 3.0 landmarks, but I believe 2.0 was a rewrite by Dan Sully to make it a properly architected, modular perl app, and 3.0 was around the introduction of "now playing" and the web interface, developed by Dean. The timing between incrementing the major version number trailed off significantly after that, otherwise we'd be at about v.100.0.0 by now. -- seanadams ------------------------------------------------------------------------ seanadams's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=44615 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
