You can rate by album, which would be a little bit faster. If you want
to get down & dirty you could connect to the database using a mysql
client and do a n update query on the rating field.

P.S. I have > 12000 tracks and have been rating them one by one and
have, over the course of two years, rated about 7000. I make regular
use of an "unrated tracks" dynamic playlist to help me when I'm in a
rating kind of mood.
