a followup... after disabling the last.fm plugin I've noticed an improvement in my synced slimp3 and sb2. I've also noticed that the original problem continues when I use any dynamic playlist. I think maybe there's a bug with the dynamic playlist plugin which is quite possible since it's in beta stage.
