We don't officially support Sirius, so I can't give you a definitive answer. There is a plug-in (find it *'here' (http://www.gregbrown.net/squeeze/sirius.htm)*), but I've never used it and there wasn't any indication of how it worked from a sync perspective. Plug-ins, of course, require SqueezeCenter to be running somewhere on your network. Shoutcast sync will not be predictable if you don't run SqueezeCenter. Basically, Sonos has the "bridge" zone player (the one connected to your network) act as the master for the other players. In the case of multi-zone sync, it receives a single stream and distributes that audio to the players. Each of their zone players is a complete "server and player" in a box, connected in a mesh network using a proprietary 2.4GHz radio setup. In contrast, Squeezeboxes are very thin, with less processing power in the player, connected to a server that handles the majority of the work. The server can be run locally on a Windows, Mac or Linux computer, providing access to your local music, the ability to extend the functionality via plug-ins, and connectivity to SqueezeNetwork for the aggregated services there. Streams are, generally speaking, connected directly to the players rather than distributed by the server. Both Sonos and Squeezebox, as architectures, have their own strengths and weaknesses. The things we do very well don't seem to have as much value to you, so I think you would be better served with a different solution than ours. For your particular case, Sonos may well be the better solution. You seem to have limited requirements for music services, you need multi-room sync but don't want to run a local server on a computer, and you haven't indicated that another 2.4GHz device crowding your network spectrum is an issue for you. -=> Jim -- JimC "well, she wasn't all of that, but she sure was some of that." -- BKlaas' college buddy ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JimC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9428 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45556 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
