Re (1), I haven't tried this, but I'm pretty sure you can do this now by simply copying the wallpaper to the SBC using scp. I'd look at what files are already in there to determine filetype, dimensions, etc.
Re (4), say you're scrolling while something is playing. How is SC7 to know that the FF or REW press is intended to move within the menu and not actually FF or REW?
