I also have a production controller and tried the same experiment. When picking it up after leaving it for an hour, it says "Please Wait" with the "spinning dots", and reconnects after a short while, which I presume is what is supposed to happen. You say you know why the beta controller does this: is there anything I can do to change it? (It's not a problem if there isn't).
