Let me recapitulate this... you have an external USB disk (fat32?) connected to 
your linux box, shared using Samba, sharing the iTunes.xml file? There are 
things we shouldn't allow :-).

Does playing m4a work at all? This is telling us that it tried to transcode 
from mov (m4a) to mp3 (why not flac? Are you using bitrate limiting?). Is this 
transcoding enabled in the server settings?

No non-latin character in here. I'm confused: this thread was about issues with 
non-latin and special characters in file names. But you can't even play plane 
files?
