I seem to be having similar symptons, although they do go away, I am running sc on a linux box. Used to be fine till I tried to add some plugins.
I believe it is got to do with the plugins. I will have to start to track it down soon. I tried un installing and then re installing but I left config files behind. I think it might be the album work that is chewing up resources.
