The best way to save electricity is to just use SqueezeNetwork. ;) WoL has been supported since 6.0 afaik (SqueezeBox 2). If you could give us more details about your server, we could probably give you more specific tips.
Have you upgraded to an 80Plus PSU? Have you put your server on a watt-meter?
