I'm probably in the minority on this but - I (almost) never want to skip to the beginning of the next track, or back to the beginning of this track. I often want to move forward or back in the current track.
So I've made a custom.map and hacked SlimBrowserApplet.lua (SB3 and Jive) to reverse the sense of -hold. In my version, pressing fwd immediately brings up the scanner. I'd have to hold to skip fwd or back to the track start.
