I received my 2nd Duet system about a week ago (this is actually system
number 4 as the first 2 were returned due to hardware faults).

Anyway, I noticed something surprising when using the new controller.
Once it was connected to the SC server, I selected Music Library and
then New Music and selected an album at the top of the list expecting
to see the same (and annoying) delay before the track listing was
displayed but I didnt - the tracks were displayed within a second or
so.

Now, the key point about this is that I had previously played the album
in question using another controller. So my theory about there being a
potential problem with the way that the controller caches track
info/album art etc was wrong - it isnt the controller causing the
problem - it's the music server!

I confirmed this by selecting another album on the new controller that
had previously been viewed and played using the other controller and
the result was the same - no delay. However, if I selected an album
that had never been played before by any controller, that same 10
second approx delay was present before the track listing was displayed.
I thought that by playing an album via the web interface first may fix
the problem, but it didnt.

I have now performed the same test using 3 different PC's all running
Vista & all with wired connections to the network and all running
recent 7.0.1 builds of SqueezeCenter. I have ensured that my anti virus
(Avast) has directory exclusions for all files under:

C:\ProgramData\SqueezeCenter

as well as the \media share on my NAS.

As noted in my previous posts, this delay whenever you want to view an
album on the controller is extremely frustrating, but I cant see
anything in the bug logs that suggests that it has been recorded by
anyone else. I will wait until 7.0.1 is officially released so that I
can log a call with support, but if the problem cant be fixed, I will
have to return both of my Duet's and draw a line under this. That
would be a pity because everything else works well i.e. the web
interface is responsive and I can play & skip tracks (WMA lossless
files) using any controller without any problems and all album art is
displayed correctly and there are no network drop outs etc.

I *really* want this product to work and have hopefully demonstrated
that I am prepared to put up with teething issues etc, but the amount
of time I have spent on fault finding/troubleshooting has gotten a
little out of hand.

If anyone else has any suggestions for other things that I can look
at/post (i.e. debug logs) to identify the cause of the problem, that
would be helpful.
