I have not been able to read all your post as I don't have time (helpful hint: you might find that more concise and considered posts get a better quality of reply). However, I think the way Various Artists is implemented in SC is odd, even eccentric especially in relation to the
List compilation albums under each artist or Group compilation albums together setting. Neither option works for me. To compound this there seems to be some problem with the Varuious Artists database query that needlessly searches through millions of records and completely destabilises my computer. I've been active on various bugs to do with VA but AFAIK none of them have been resolved (or if they have, the result was unsatisfactory).
