How is the music stored (in terms of folder structure)? Are all the songs in one single folder?
I had a similar problem with two albums called "Control" (Joy Division and Plastikman from memory) and Slimserver (as was) insisting on merging them into a single album. There is specific logic to deal with albums with the same name as another album, although I'm not best placed to explain it. You will need to have the tracks in single folder albums though (if I recall correctly) and I'm not sure how this would work in an Itunes only import situation.
